Medical Board

Our Medical Board is made up of some of the most renowned breast cancer and cancer specialists in Brazil. Our dear medical volunteers donate their wisdom and professional experience to guide us in strategic decisions regarding our Health Projects at the hospitals where we work!

Dr. Rodrigo Saddi

Dr. Rodrigo Saddi has a medical degree from Universidade de Santo Amaro (Unisa), with residency in Internal Medicine from São Paulo Medical School - Universidade Federal de São Paulo. He did his residency in Clinical Oncology at AC Camargo Cancer Center. He currently works as an oncologist in São Paulo, on Dr. Artur Katz’s team (Sírio-Libanês Hospital).

Dr. Silvio Eduardo Bromberg

PhD in Surgery from the Medical School, Universidade de São Paulo and post-doctorate in Mastology from Universidade Federal de São Paulo. He specialized in Mastology at Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori in Italy. He is an affiliated professor of Mastology at São Paulo Medical School, a Mastologist surgeon at the Oncology Center at Israelita Albert Einstein Hospital and a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons.

Dr. Otto Metzger Filho

With a Medical degree from the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG), Dr. Otto specialized in Breast Cancer at the Institut Jules Bordet in Brussels, Belgium. He is an oncologist in Boston, USA, at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, affiliated with Harvard Medical School. He has a number of scientific papers published in international medical journals.

Dra. Renata Macchione

Despite having a degree in Veterinary from USP, her passion was medicine. Taking advantage of her move to Rio, Renata took a medical degree at Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF) and specialized in obstetric gynecology at UFRJ. Married, mother of two, she was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of just 37. Now, with her return to the city of São Paulo, she joins the Scientific Board to interface with our Hospital Partners joining her profession with the practical experience of what it is like to fight this disease.

Dr. Gustavo Schvartsman

With a Medical degree and Residency in Internal Medicine at São Paulo Medical School - Universidade Federal de São Paulo, he completed a Clinical Fellowship and Clinical Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. He is currently a Clinical Oncologist at Israelita Albert Einstein Hospital and coordinator of the Cell Therapy in Oncology program at the hospital. He is pursuing a PhD in immunotherapy and is the first author on numerous scientific papers published in high-profile international journals.

Dr. Sérgio Daniel Simon

Chairperson of the Board

With a Medical degree and PhD from the Universidade de São Paulo, he did his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center (USA) and attended the specialization program in Clinical Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (USA). He is currently an oncologist at Albert Einstein Hospital, Chairperson of the Brazilian Society of Clinical Oncology (SBOC), Director of Centro Paulista de Oncologia (CPO) [São Paulo Oncology Center] and Chief Executive of the Brazilian Breast Cancer Study Group (GBECAM).

Advisory Board

To help us in our strategic decisions, we count on our dear specialist professionals, each in their area of expertise (Third Sector, Fundraising, Events, Communication). Many of them have had Breast Cancer and have experienced the challenges of fighting the disease.

CRISTIANE FEIJÓ UFLACKER

With a degree in Advertising from Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Cristiane has almost 20 years of experience in the advertising market, having developed advertising campaigns, design projects, promotions, events and online media strategies. She specializes in Visual Programming from Centro Universitário Ritter dos Reis and has worked at Escala, McCann Erickson, Duda Propaganda and Momentum. She faced a rare, aggressive form of breast cancer: half positive, half negative

CRISTIANE LOTAIF

With a degree in Architecture from Universidade Mackenzie (SP), she worked in the Retail Sector for many years, then in Marketing and Retail at Shopping Cidade Jardim and was Commercial Officer for Christian Dior in Brazil. For years, Cris has dedicated herself to different social causes, mainly in Fund Raising for certain Organizations. Mother of two children, after overcoming breast cancer, she has contributed to various organizations in the health field. These include the Deliberative Board of Sírio Libanês Hospital, of which Cris is a member.

MARIA CECÍLIA ALMEIDA E SILVA E. LINS

Master’s in Education from PUC-SP, specialization in Social Innovation Management from Amani Institute; Specialization in Psychopedagogy from CEPERJ; With a degree in Psychology, she is an elementary education teacher, founder and executive officer of Pró-Saber São Paulo Institute, operating in the Paraisópolis community since 2003. Maria is also the Social Committee Leader of the Grupo Mulheres do Brasil (Women of Brazil Group). Married with three children, Maria believes that Education is a powerful tool for reducing social inequality.

MARIA LUCIA VIDIGAL

With a degree in Speech Therapy from Universidade Federal de São Paulo. (USP-SP) and a Master in Pathophysiology from the Medical School (USP-SP), Luly Vidigal, as she is better known, worked for 25 years as a Speech Therapist, 8 of which were at Albert Einstein Hospital. However, Luly found her passion when she became a master in floral arranging from the Ikebana School in NY. The florist has taught at the NY Botanical Garden, has won the Best Floral Arrangement at the 25th Orchid Show at Rockefeller Center, and now owns her own studio in São Paulo. Luly has 4 children and is a board member of TUCCA, a non-profit organization.

MÔNICA FERRO

Businesswoman in the lighting sector, Monica Ferro founded the company Wall Lamps in 1995. The brand has consolidated itself as one of the most important and respected lighting stores in Brazil and works with the top architects and lighting designers in the country. Mônica has a son and overcame breast cancer with joy and determination. She believes it is easier to overcome this disease surrounded by friends and a professional and loving support network.

TÂNIA CAJADO DE FREITAS VALLE

With a degree in Business Administration, Tânia also studied Interior Decoration and Photography at Escola Panamericana de Arte.
She worked as a decorator for over 15 years in her own office until 2010, when she moved from Brazil. Back in the country since 2018, Tânia decided to resume her work in social causes in 2019. In the past she has engaged with Casa Hope, Liga Solidária, HIAE, Jardim Ângela, and others. Married, she has three children and three granddaughters. In 2004, she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and overcame the disease with the support of her family and friends.

ANA FURTADO

TV hostess, actress, and journalist, Ana has a consolidated career in TV, where she has worked since 1996. She has participated in soap operas, miniseries, and TV shows on Globo channel. She is currently the hostess of the weekly program É de Casa. After discovering breast cancer in 2018 and going through the entire healing process, Ana got to know and became a collaborator of Protea Institute Recently, she has been working at the Institute as a Guest Advisor.

ANA CRISTINA FERRAZ

Since her days at Largo São Francisco Law School - USP, Ana has worked as a volunteer for Civil Society Organizations. For 19 years she has been the director of TUCCA - Association for Children and Adolescents with Cancer, an OSCIP (civil society organization of public interest) that works in partnership with Santa Marcelina Hospital. She is a member of the Education Committee of Instituto Ad Maiora and participates in the education initiatives of Pró-Saber SP. She is married and mother of 3 children, and joined our Institute because she believes in the dream of curing many women through dignified, high-quality treatment.

CAROLA MB MATARAZZO

With a degree in Administration from FAAP-SP, Ana Carolina, or more commonly known as Carola, owned a decorative fabric store and a woodworking shop before getting involved with Liga Solidária (Solidarity League), a 95-year-old non-profit organization. Over 18 years of volunteer work with the League, Carola has held several positions, including treasurer, until she became chairperson, where she remained from 2012 to 2018. Today she remains a Board Member of the League, in addition to our Institute.

Audit Committee

FÁBIO WHITAKER VIDIGAL

Economist with a degree from PUC-SP, Fábio has years of professional experience in the Financial Market. He worked as an Officer appointed through the Articles of Incorporation in several banks in Brazil and abroad, including Banco Itaú and JP Morgan. He is currently a founding partner and Officer of CIX Capital Gestão de Ativos and CIX Capital Soluções Financeiras Imobiliárias. Fábio also has extensive experience in the Third Sector, as a member of the Board of TUCCA and of Liga Solidária Audit Committee, in addition to our Institute.

FABIANA VALERIO ARANA

She has a degree in Business Administration and Accounting Sciences, with specialization from the University of California (Berkeley) and is currently a Partner of Banco BTG Pactual (she works in share sales at the Bank’s Brokerage House) and a Board Member at HDI Seguros Brasil. She was also an Officer at Schroder Investment Management Brasil (Latin America equity funds) and Price Waterhouse (Senior Auditor), adding up to more than 20 years of experience in the financial market.

FLÁVIA CIPOVICCI BERENGUER

With a degree in Business Administration from FGV in SP, Flavia has worked in the financial market since 1997. Flavia started her career as a credit analyst at Citibank, and then moved to the investment area at ING Barings, Bradesco, Templeton Asset Management and BankBoston Asset Management. In 2007, living in New York, Flavia moved to ITAUBBA to work in the institutional investor sales department, where she remained for 8 years. Flavia is married and has two children.
