This has allowed us to increase the number of patients treated, reducing the time between diagnosis and the start of treatment.<br \/>Protea does not choose which patients will have their treatment funded by the Institute. Patients are referred to Protea by the hospital's mastology team or by other patients. In addition, Jornada Protea also facilitates the journey of patients from partner hospitals through Patient Navigation. <br \/>Through videos of doctors, therapists, and patient testimonials, guidance and information are available on breast cancer detection and treatment types, prevention methods, and emotional support. The Artificial Intelligence project, for example, aims to estimate a woman's chances of developing breast cancer within five years, with subsequent monitoring for early detection. The Artificial Intelligence project was developed by MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) and was implemented in June 2022 as a research project at Santa Marcelina Hospital, with funds donated
